Doctor's Day 2021

National Doctors' Day, March 30

“During a normal checkup, my doctor ‘found something.’ He immediately explained what he was going to do and all of the steps for my care plan. He was informative, calm, and positive which allowed me to be calm. He always goes above and beyond and is always willing to listen to my concerns. I’m grateful that I’m his patient!”

Celebrating Our Doctors

Health. Every part of our existence relies on health and good healthcare. Thankfully, UR Medicine Thompson Health physicians provide exceptional care – close to home.

Through each exam, test, diagnosis, and treatment plan, it is your doctor who walks alongside you with empathy and a deep sense of commitment to your health. We also know that Thompson physicians place the needs of their patients at the top of their priorities.

The dedication of our physicians is something we should not only be thankful for, but celebrate!

To recognize the lifelong commitment of these incredible caregivers, and in observance of National Doctors’ Day on March 30, consider making a donation in honor of those who have sworn an oath to provide only the highest quality of care to those in need; to treat patients with respect and dignity; and to seek solutions to enhance the health and welfare of our community.

Please play a part in recognizing the work of a doctor who has made a difference in your life by making a donation in their honor. Honoring a provider who has positively impacted your future not only inspires them, it tells them their efforts are valued. Rest assured, Thompson will use your gift to help meet emergent needs across the system to ensure our medical, emergency, preventative and educational services are of the highest quality.

Using the form below, simply name the doctor you wish to honor and return it with your gift in the envelope provided. You can also securely make your gift online —and write an optional personal message of appreciation — using this link.. When we receive your Doctors’ Day gift, the medical professional you honor will receive notification of your tribute, although the gift amount will remain confidential.

Thank you for your commitment to strengthen our ability to honor our doctors. It is such a meaningful way for a physician to know they are making a difference in the care of others.

About Doctors' Day

National Doctors' Day is held every year on March 30th in the United States. It is a day to celebrate the contribution of physicians who serve our country by caring for its' citizens.

The first Doctors' Day observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia.  Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians. This first observance included the mailing of greeting cards and placing flowers on graves of deceased doctors.

On March 30, 1958, a Resolution Commemorating Doctors' Day was adopted by the United States House of Representatives. In 1990, legislation was introduced in the House and Senate to establish a national Doctors' Day. Following overwhelming approval by the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, on October 30, 1990, President George Bush signed a bill designating March 30th as "National Doctors' Day."
