Thompson Health’s Orthopaedic Care Team works collaboratively to provide the highest level of orthopaedic care, superior service and personal attention to all of our patients. Our multidisciplinary team consists of nurses, physician assistants, surgeons, physical and occupational therapists and social workers.

Patient Education

Total Joint Replacement Education Program is now Virtual

Traditionally held in person at the hospital once a month, Thompson Health’s monthly Total Joint Replacement Group Education Program is now available online. The free program addresses questions about preparing for this elective surgery, covering topics such as getting your home ready, beginning an exercise program and more. Nancy Buerman, clinical coordinator of physical therapy at Thompson Health, facilitates this program, which now involves a video presentation. Educational presentations and guides have been developed to assist those patients who will undergo total knee or total hip replacement surgery. These materials will give you an overview of what to expect during your joint replacement journey. Rest assured, however, that Thompson Health professionals will be there to guide you through the process step by step.


Pre-Hab Therapy

Our Rehabilitation Services department offers a unique program to patients who will undergo total joint replacement surgery-“Pre-hab” in our therapeutic pool at F.F. Thompson Hospital. This “pre-hab” program helps patients maximize their range of motion and strength to help ensure an optimal outcome.
