Respiratory Therapy

Pulmonary Function Testing equipment allows for more precise data, resulting in an even better understanding of an individual patient's disease process.

Thompson Health’s Respiratory Therapists work closely with other medical disciplines such as Physicians, Nurses, Physical Therapists and occasionally Speech Therapists. In our health system, Respiratory Therapy is used to improve the quality of life for our patients with breathing disorders.

Therapists specialize in the assessment and treatment of chronic lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), and more acute multi-systemic problems stemming from other pathological conditions such as heart attack, stroke or trauma. Thompson’s Respiratory Therapy department services the hospital seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
