Adapting to Change, Staying Informed and Staying Safe

QUALITY AND SAFETY

As the summer continues and fall draws nearer, the community at large continues adjusting to the changes brought about by COVID-19, and healthcare workers are no different.

“Throughout the past several months, Thompson has remained diligent with safety measures, understanding no one can afford to become complacent and everyone must adapt to new ways of  both delivering and receiving health care,” said President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr.

After performing only emergency surgeries and emergency outpatient procedures during March and April, surgeons and specialists at F.F. Thompson Hospital expanded services nearly three months ago. Now, locations throughout the health system are welcoming patients back for a variety of services.

“Things may look a little different,” Stapleton said, “but the outstanding care you receive is the same as it has ever been.”

According to Stapleton, Thompson follows all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New York State Department of Health guidelines with regard to personal protective equipment (PPE), routinely sterilizing patient care areas and enforcing social distancing/containment measures. Everyone entering Thompson facilities must have their temperature checked and wear a mask.

Meanwhile, those with chronic conditions are especially encouraged to seek needed care because their conditions could very well worsen without it. In addition, Thompson’s pediatricians and family practice physicians are urging parents to stay up to date with well-child visits, vaccinations, and school/sports physicals.
