ICU Nurse Named Thompson’s Latest ‘DAISY’

CANANDAIGUA – Erica Iversen, a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, is the latest UR Medicine Thompson Health recipient of The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Iversen, a resident of Prattsburgh in Steuben County, was surprised with the award during a shift on Sept. 28, with Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer Hazel Robertshaw and others holding a brief presentation. It came as the result of a nomination stemming from a woman’s care in the ICU.

The nomination read, in part, "Erica's enthusiasm is contagious. She loves what she does, and her care, compassion, and empathy for my wife was exemplary. Erica's sense of humor made me more comfortable, and she attended to my wife's every need. We are both grateful to have met her."

Iversen was presented with a certificate, a pin, and a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. As a DAISY recipient, she is also eligible for scholarships, discounts on certifications, and medical mission grants from The DAISY Foundation. She is the fifth recipient of Thompson’s quarterly DAISY award, which is part of a nationwide nurse recognition program.
