Community Urged to Explore Career Options Within Thompson

For most people, COVID-19 restrictions created a pause in day-to-day life. In some cases, they even led to a disruption in employment.

Either way, the result has often been a re-examining of priorities and goals. Some individuals are changing their place of employment while others are embarking – or considering embarking – upon an entirely new career. As the largest employer in Ontario County, Thompson Health has plenty of options to consider.

“We have many openings throughout the health system, and I would strongly encourage anyone who is looking for a meaningful career – something truly fulfilling – to explore these openings and consider becoming part of our team,” said Vice President of Associate Services Jennifer DeVault.

Founded in 1904, Thompson includes not only a 113-bed hospital but a 178-bed nursing home, independent and enriched living, a breast imaging center, a sleep disorders center, three urgent care locations, two lab draw stations and 11 primary care practices as well as an occupational medicine program and rehabilitation services sites. DeVault noted that in addition to clinical positions, there are many non-clinical positions as well, such as roles in the Business Office, Nutrition Services and Environmental Services.

She explained that as a community-based health system, Thompson has a unique corporate culture. Known as The Thompson Way, it is centered on core values of Commitment, Action, Respect, Excellence and Service, or CARES.

“We pride ourselves on empowering our associates to be a part of process improvements – whether they’re making things better for patients, residents, visitors or fellow staff members – and we put a big emphasis on celebrating their contributions,” she said. “Our associates have commented many times that they really feel valued by our organization. That’s important, to them and to us.”

For insights from current Thompson associates in a variety of roles throughout the health system, DeVault said she would encourage potential applicants to check out the videos produced by ReviewTube and available for viewing at www.ThompsonHealth.com/Careers. The site also includes descriptions about all open positions, details about compensation and benefits, and information about how Thompson has been recognized for its workplace wellness initiatives as well as its commitment to diversity.
