Powering Up Emergency Preparedness

Work began in July on a project aimed at ensuring our hospital remains prepared for emergencies in the future.

With The Pike Company of Rochester and Victor-based O’Connell Electric Company as the main contractors, a 3,000-square-foot, free-standing building is taking shape just behind the hospital’s loading dock. Once complete in May 2023, it will house four generators to provide emergency backup power to the hospital. A fuel storage and management system are also included.

“This is to replace two older generators, so we can continue to grow and expand healthcare services,” said Director of Facility Services James Dietz. “Whether there’s a storm or some other event causing a widespread power outage, we will continue to be well prepared to take excellent care of our patients.”

We are awaiting word on a federal grant application to assist with the more than $6 million project.
