How to Know When Stress is Affecting You, and What to Do

As the pandemic continues stretching out far longer than many anticipated, experts agree self-care and mental health are increasingly important.

Thompson Health’s Wellness Department recently shared advice – from Positive Promotions, Inc. – via posters placed in hospital elevators and elsewhere throughout the health system’s main campus.

Wellness Coordinator Cindy Kaufman said the posters share simple but effective things that are important to keep in mind, whether it’s the pandemic or other sources of stress that might be weighing on you. “Oftentimes, we’re so stressed, we don’t even realize it,” she noted.

“All of our people are constantly taking care of others, and we want to take a moment to make sure everyone pauses to take a moment to take care of themselves,” Kaufman said, noting the posters’ advice can be helpful not only to Thompson staff, but to hospital visitors and to the wider community as well.
