‘Now More Than Ever, This Protection is Critical’

AFTER HOLDING 11 well-attended flu clinics throughout the area earlier this fall, F.F. Thompson Hospital is urging community members who haven’t yet received the 2020-2021 vaccine to seek one out.
“With so much focus on COVID-19 this year, it’s important not to lose sight of influenza and the importance of getting your annual vaccination. The flu vaccine helps keep you and your community protected. Now more than ever, this protection is critical,” said Thompson Health Director of Infection Prevention Kristen Bloom.
A number of primary care physicians have the flu vaccine for their patients, as do a number of pharmacies including the one affiliated with the hospital – the Canandaigua Medical Group Pharmacy at 335 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
As a courtesy at the pharmacy, Thompson Health bills Medicare, MVP products, BlueCross BlueShield products and commercial insurances. Patients must present an insurance card at the time of the flu shot. The self-pay cost is $40 ($75 for the high-dose vaccine, available in limited quantities for those 65 and up).
