Thompson Expanding Its Primary Care, OB-GYN Teams
UR Medicine Thompson Health has welcomed six primary care and OB-GYN providers since the beginning of the year, with seven more joining the health system this summer.
“Our teams have been working hard, and continue to work hard, in recruiting providers so we can continue meeting the needs of our community. It’s gratifying to see this hard work paying off, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have individuals of this caliber joining Thompson,” said Dr. David E. Baum, Thompson’s chief medical officer.
With primary care, new providers are:
- Cassie Weis, a pediatric nurse practitioner who joined the pediatrics practice at Thompson’s Canandaigua Medical Group on Jan. 31.
- Physician Assistant Beth Beasley, who joined Farmington Family Medicine effective Feb. 28.
- Dr. Jean Mandat, who joined the Canandaigua Medical Group – where he is treating both pediatric and adult patients – effective April 11.
Mandat, who first joined Thompson in December 2021 at its Canandaigua Urgent Care location, had previously worked in both Binghamton and Danville, Pa. after serving as chief resident at Community Health of South Florida in Miami.
“What drew me to Thompson is the small and intimate atmosphere. It seemed to be a place where what you do has a big impact because our patients make up the community; they're our business owners, mechanics, teachers, fellow health-care workers and friends,” he said. “I loved how approachable and ready to help people were and still are, which makes working here so satisfying.”
On the Canandaigua Medical Group OB-GYN team, which has four locations, new providers are:
- Family Nurse Practitioner Cassandra Gleason, who joined the Canandaigua office on Jan. 31.
- Bridget LaGro, a certified nurse midwife, who joined the Canandaigua location on May 16.
The influx of new medical providers shows no signs of slowing down.
In July and August, Thompson is slated to welcome the following primary care providers:
- Dr. Kate Skipton, who will be joining Canandaigua Family Practice.
- Dr. Morgan Paul, who will be joining Farmington Family Medicine.
- Roberta Korich, a family nurse practitioner who will assist as needed in family medicine locations and in HealthWorks, Thompson’s occupational medicine program.
- Lindsey Geyer, a physician assistant who will team up with Dr. Mandat in treating adult and pediatric patients.
- Dr. Michael (Huan Tang) Li, a pediatrician who will join the Canandaigua Medical Group.
- Dr. Brogan Schoeneman, who is joining Victor Family Practice.
- Dr. Saurabh, who will be treating adult patients at Canandaigua Medical Group.
As for Mandat, he feels like he is part of a team whose members give their all and provide a great deal of support.
“What I would tell other physicians looking for a good place to be is to take a good look at Thompson,” he said. “In medicine, especially today's medicine, the concept of work/life balance can't be understated and should be right near the top of reasons in choosing a specific place to work. Working at Thompson allows me to enjoy the practice of medicine and makes it that much easier to take care of my patients.”
