CANANDAIGUA – A host of area woodworkers and local artists have teamed up to create unique, elaborately-decorated birdhouses and birdfeeders to be raffled, with proceeds benefitting the Thompson Health Guild.
The birdhouses and feeders will be on display – and raffle tickets will be available – through May 8:
- At the Guild’s annual Springtime in Canandaigua juried art and fine craft show, April 22-24 at the Greater
Canandaigua Civic Center
- At UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital the week of April 25-29, outside the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- At Spring Valley Greenhouse and Mayflowers Nursery & Garden Center May 7 and 8 (Mother’s Day weekend)
The nearly 30 birdhouses and feeders were built by residents who use the woodworking shop at Thompson’s independent living community of Ferris Hills at West Lake (with materials donated by Lowe’s), adults in the
woodworking program of Holy Childhood in Rochester, students from Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, and other area woodworkers.
Feeders and houses were then painted by local artists including Jane Alden, Kathy Balacki, Tina Blackwood, Judi Cermak, Denise Dvanderoef, Michele Fernaays, John Fladd, Peggi Heissenberger, Keith and Roberta Kappel, Majorie Serr, Edith McSorely, Kim Ratzel, Howard VanBuren and Cheryl Vandenburg.
Raffle tickets will be available at all display locations for $1 each, or six for $5. Winners’ names will be drawn on Monday, May 9.
