The 8th Annual “Tour de Thompson” (formerly known as the Ride for Independence) bicycle tour of the Bristol Hills to benefit Thompson Health’s Rehabilitation Services Aftercare Program will be held Saturday, July 31 at Onanda Park, West Lake Road in Canandaigua. Registration is at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. mass start.
Riders can choose from beginner, novice and expert courses including a 100 Kilometer ride with 6,800 feet of climbing, a 31 mile ride, or a 15-mile course The Tour begins and ends at Onanda Park on the west shore of Canandaigua Lake where there will be a post-ride picnic, hiking, fishing and even a jump in the lake. The ride features scenic views of Canandaigua Lake, post-ride massage for tired legs, bike numbers, rest stops, SAG, and free parking on the upland side of park.
Cost of the ride is $30 per rider; $35 after July 15. Early bird registration is $25 if postmarked by June 1. Registration includes T-shirts for the first 50 registrants.
The Aftercare Program helps people with chronic disease maintain their level of function and independence in the community. The program’s mission is to provide patients with continued services after their insurance benefits have ended or they have reached a maintenance level in their therapy.
