CANANDAIGUA – Starting and ending at Onanda Park on the west shore of Canandaigua Lake, the 13th annual Tour de Thompson will be held Saturday July 25, 8 a.m. to 4:30pm.
To date, this bicycle tour offering scenic views has raised more than $30,000 to help Rehabilitation Services patients at UR Medicine’s Thompson Health maintain their independence at home and in the community.
Considered by many riders to be a warm-up for the Highlander Cycle Tour in September, Tour de Thompson offers three options – a 15-mile route, a 31-mile route and a 62.5-mile Metric Century with 6,800 feet of challenging climbs.
Three rest stops along the way keep riders fueled up and hydrated while SAG vehicles are on hand to help with flat tires or other mechanical issues. All routes end with a picnic lunch, swimming, leg massages and all the amenities the park has to offer.
Registration can be found online at www.Thompsonhealth.com/TdT and the event also has a Facebook page. Ride Director Dudley Hallstead can be reached at (585) 396-6917 to answer any questions.
Registration is $35 before July 15, or $40 up to and including the day of the ride. There is a mass start at 8 a.m., but riders have until 10 a.m. to depart. Ride shirts are offered to the first 100 riders.
