Thompson Health will take part in an international exchange this summer, with an executive from a health system in the United Kingdom paying a visit to Thompson and Deborah Weymouth – her Thompson counterpart – then visiting the U.K.
The exchange is through the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), of which Weymouth is a member and Rochester chapter board member. Approximately 20 U.S. health systems take part in the HFMA exchange each year. Weymouth learned in February that Thompson had been chosen for the honor.
“With recent calls for healthcare reform, this is a wonderful learning opportunity for Thompson,” said Weymouth, the health system’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as well as the Chief Operating Officer of F.F. Thompson Hospital.
Mary Connor, who is the CFO for a three-hospital health system/trust based in Bath, England, will visit Thompson the third week in July and Weymouth will visit Bath the third week in September. The two women will also attend meetings in Washington, D.C. and London as part of the exchange, hearing experts speak on international healthcare policy and where it’s headed.
In addition to meeting with private practice physicians and officials from Unity Health and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield during her July visit to Canandaigua, Connor will make a presentation to Thompson’s Board of Directors and host a “Lunch & Learn” for Thompson Associates.
