CANANDAIGUA – The Speech Pathology Department at UR Medicine’s Thompson Health is hosting free screenings for oral, head and neck cancer on Thursday, April 21, from 1 to 6 p.m.
The screenings, conducted by Dr. John Centonze and Physician Assistant Erik Kerr of Finger Lakes Otolaryngology (ENT), will be held in the ground floor conference rooms at Thompson Hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, 350 Parrish St. in Canandaigua.
Schedule a screening if you have:
- Trouble moving your tongue/jaw
- Difficulty swallowing or chewing
- Numbness or persistent mouth pain
- White or red areas, lumps or sores in the mouth that last more
than two weeks - Lump in the neck or throat soreness
- A change in voice
Young adults with symptoms are urged to get screened, as research links an increased risk of cancer to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
