CANANDAIGUA – On Sunday, Dec. 4, UR Medicine's Thompson Hospital will offer a one-hour class for children who will soon have a baby brother or sister born at Thompson’s Birthing Center.
Developed for 3- to 10-year-olds, this 4 p.m. class includes a tour of the hospital's Birthing Center, a "visit" with a newborn, a video about changes to expect, and practice sessions regarding how to hold and diaper a baby. In
addition, parents will receive information about how to help further prepare a future sibling at home, before the baby's birth.
The cost for parents and one child is $10. There is an additional $5 charge for each additional child. Although the one-hour class is specifically designed for the child, parents are required to stay in attendance.
