Thompson to Host Open House & Screening Event Sept. 29

CANANDAIGUA – The Dr. Laurie Sands and Constellation Brands Breast Imaging Center at 195 Parrish St. in Canandaigua is hosting an Open House & Screening Event on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will include refreshments, door prizes and:

• Cancer genetic testing information and screenings
•  Mammogram appointments and screenings
• “Meet the Nurse Navigators,” with Danielle Choate, RN, BN-CN, and Gennell Moore, RT(R)(M), RN, BN-CN
• “Ask the Doctors,” with radiologists Dr. Satpal Kaur and Dr. Radha Iyer available to answer questions regarding breast health
  
  Offered to both women and men, the genetic testing involves the collection of a saliva sample, which is then analyzed at a lab to assess a person for multiple genetic mutations associated with increased risk for eight different cancers. Results are delivered to the Breast Imaging Center, where the staff schedules an appointment to discuss the results.
  
  Other services available at the Breast Imaging Center include 3D tomosynthesis technology for all mammography patients; same-day testing and results, upon request; private access to screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, biopsies, drainage and needle localization procedures; and bone density testing. In addition, breast health navigation nurses provide immediate access to a variety of support services following a diagnosis of breast cancer.
