The Rochester Area Employment Network (RAEN) recently presented Thompson Health with the Regional Employer of the Year Award during a recognition event held in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The award, for helping to increase the independence of people with disabilities by hiring and promoting them, was the result of a nomination of Thompson by Ontario ARC and the New York State Education Department’s Office of VESID, which stands for Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities.
The recognition event was held Oct. 7 at the Irondequoit Country Club in Pittsford. Those attending on behalf of Thompson included President/CEO Linda Farchione, Senior Vice President of Development/Support Services Christopher Mahan, Vice President of Associate Services and Wellness Jennifer DeVault and Terry Ovenshire, Director of Nutrition/Environmental Services.
“This award means a great deal to Thompson Health,” says Farchione. “Talent truly has no boundaries, and Thompson is committed to a diverse workforce that encompasses disabled individuals who are dedicated to our vision of ‘Bringing Confidence and Compassion to Every Healthcare Experience.’ A special thank you goes to Terry Ovenshire for his work in this area.”
At the event, Thompson also received a certificate from the New York State Department of Labor and VESID, “for helping to increase the independence and productivity of people with disabilities.”
