Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women and the Women Veterans Health Care Program will collaborate to host “Getting It Right Below the Belt,” a women’s health event, on Wednesday, May 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Inn on the Lake, 770 S. Main St., Canandaigua.
This entertaining and educational women’s health conference will focus on issues that are unique to women. Physicians and health care experts from Thompson Health and the Women Veterans Health Care Program will present information on a variety of topics, including varicose veins by David E. Lee, M.D.; pelvic inflammatory disease by Caroline Fernandez, M.D.; birth control by Sreelatha Ukkadam, M.D.; menopause by Catherine Cantwell, M.D.; urinary incontinence by James McMahon, MPT, ATC; and the “Spirit of Transitions” by Linda Farchione, president/CEO of Thompson Health. In addition, keynote speaker Diane Sieg, RN – author, yoga teacher and life coach – will present on the importance of life balance with “From Chaos to Calm.”
“This wellness event will provide a safe and comfortable environment for women to have fun while learning about healthcare issues that are unique to them,” says Jeanna Savage, director of Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women. “With an estimated one in four women experiencing pelvic problems, we want to encourage women to put themselves first and get the help they need when dealing with any issues they may have ‘below the belt.’” This event is funded in part through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health.
