In observance of National Senior Health & Fitness Day, Thompson Health’s Rehabilitation Services Department will host a free health and fitness event for seniors on Saturday, June 2, from 9 a.m. to noon at F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
This event includes screenings and assessments for blood pressure, stress, stroke and diabetes, as well as information on fall prevention, total joint replacement, golf fitness, chiropractic, complementary medicine and more. Refreshments and prize drawings will be included. There will also be interactive demonstrations and presentations during the following times:
- Yoga, 9 to 9:30 a.m.
- “My Healthy Back,” 9:30 to 10 a.m.
- Nia, a sensory-based movement practice, 10 to 10:30 a.m.
- Zumba Gold, 10:30 to 11 a.m.
- Diabetes Prevention and Management, 11 to 11:30 a.m.
- Senior Fitness Program, 11:30 a.m. to noon
“This event will inform seniors about ways to improve their health in a fun and engaging way,” says event coordinator Jeremy Herniman, a certified athletic trainer and senior fitness instructor at Thompson Health.
The event will be held in the Constellation Center for Health and Healing, located on the main Thompson Health campus. The Constellation Center is accessible from West Street via The Thompson Way and parking is available on the north side of the building.
