UR Medicine Thompson Health’s urgent care centers in Farmington and Newark are now offering a telehealth option for patients who have immediate health concerns and who would prefer to remain at home.
Located at 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington and 800 W. Miller St in Newark, the centers are affiliated with F.F. Thompson Hospital.
As always, both are still accepting walk-in patients with urgent care needs. Measures are in place to ensure safety. The added availability of telehealth means patients can call from home and – in many situations – arrange for either a phone or video option with a healthcare provider. Many healthcare insurers are now covering telehealth (both telephone and video visits) to help people maintain access to care during the pandemic.
Issues that can often be addressed via telehealth include:
- Allergies
- Asthma
- Bronchitis
- Cough, cold, fever and flu
- Pink eye
- Rash
- Sore throat
- Toothache
- Urinary tract infection
Telehealth hours for both Thompson urgent care locations are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 9 to 5 p.m. on weekends, while in-person hours for Farmington are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and in-person hours for Newark are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays.
