Thompson Health has received a $200,000 matching grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation Bullis Fund for the F.F. Thompson Hospital restructuring initiative. When completed, F.F. Thompson Hospital will have new areas for Surgical Care, Ambulatory Procedures, Rehabilitation Services, Laboratory, Nutrition Services and Associate Services.
The Bullis Fund will match dollar contributions to Thompson’s capital campaign, up to $200,000. Thompson’s Building a Healthy Future Capital Campaign plans to raise a total of $14 million toward the new construction and renovation costs. To date, generous support from community members has generated more than $10 million.
In 2003, F.F. Thompson Hospital completed the first phase of its master facility plan, which renovated and upgraded the Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging areas. The hospital is now embarking on the second phase of this strategic plan by adding a new 61,000-square-foot, two-story addition to the main hospital as well as renovating 42,000 square feet of space in the existing hospital. Groundbreaking for the new building is planned for this summer.
The hospital’s present facility was built in 1971, and both the community and the practice of medicine have experienced significant changes since that time. Linda Farchione, CEO/President of Thompson Health, says, “This project is more than bricks and mortar. It signifies our hospital’s commitment to provide compassionate and exceptional care to the community we serve.”
