CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. –Thompson Health is presenting a May 19 appearance by professional football linebacker Tedy Bruschi, who will share his insights on recuperating from a stroke he suffered at the age of 31.
Bruschi, a star linebacker and defensive leader on a three-time national championship football team, feared a stroke would end his football career. Physicians found and repaired a small hole in his heart; eight months after his February 2005 stroke, he returned to the football field.
Bruschi will share his remarkable story in an engagement at 7 p.m., this Saturday, May 19, at Canandaigua Academy Auditorium.
Bruschi’s appearance is part of Thompson Health’s ongoing efforts to educate the community on the warning signs and treatment of stroke. Thompson Hospital is a New York State Designated Stroke Center. The event is sponsored by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield and Canandaigua National Bank & Trust Co.
