CANANDAIGUA – The Thompson Health Guild awarded scholarships to four high school seniors at its annual dinner, held June 8 at Ferris Hills at West Lake in Canandaigua.
The four scholarships were awarded to the following students:
- Danielle Callard from Canandaigua Academy, who will attend Rochester Institute of Technology to pursue medicine, received the Gerry North Memorial Scholarship.
- Chloe Louthan-Green from Naples Central School, who will be attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges to pursue pediatric medicine, received the Deborah L. Kimble Memorial Scholarship.
- Charlotte Mineo from Marcus Whitman Central School, who is enrolling at Union College to study medicine, received the Theresa Tremblay Memorial Scholarship.
- Cassandra Preston from Victor Central School, who will attend Daemen College in a direct-entry BS/MS program for physician assistants, received the Phyllis Ehmann Memorial Scholarship.
Each year, the Thompson Health Guild offers up to four, $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors in the service area of UR Medicine’s Thompson Health who are pursuing degrees in health care.
“To find just four scholarship winners from a pool of extremely qualified applicants in a real mix of multiple talents is daunting. We had athletes, academics, musicians and volunteers. There were valedictorians and students most promising in everything you can imagine,” said Scholarship Chair Kathleen Duserick, adding, “These are extraordinary kids doing extraordinary things.”
