VICTOR— The third annual Thompson Health Golf Classic, held on June 5 at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, netted more than $66,000 to support the new, 12-bed Observation Unit at UR Medicine’s Thompson Hospital.
“The event’s success event gave a tremendous boost to our fundraising efforts. To date, we’ve raised nearly $800,000 to fund the $2.1 million project,” said Anita Pietropaolo, director of the F.F. Thompson Foundation.
Scheduled to open on July 12, the Observation Unit will provide care to patients who require evaluation and treatment for a short period of time, reserving inpatient and Emergency Department beds for critically ill patients. “With the addition of this new, dedicated unit and its personalized, high-quality care, we expect to enhance patient satisfaction as well as manage our patient load more efficiently,” Pietropaolo said.
