Thompson Health Awarded Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health

Author: Anne Johnston/Tuesday, March 25, 2025/Categories: Press Releases

CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health is proud to announce it recently received a Gold Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA).

MHA is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health, well-being, and illness prevention for all. With Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum recognition levels, its Bell Seal recognizes employers striving to create mentally healthy workplaces for their employees.

Only 1 in 4 employers meet the standards for Bell Seal certification. In order to achieve Gold, Thompson – which has more than 2,100 associates – underwent a rigorous evaluation of its policies and practices in four areas: workplace culture, benefits, compliance, and wellness programs.

Among the initiatives Thompson highlighted were its Mental Health First Aid training, Success Coaching, and department-specific “Circles of Care” as well as a host of Wellness programs and opportunities to connect with others.

“We are extremely proud of the hard work our Associate Wellness, Associate Services, and Spiritual Care teams put into making sure Thompson Health provides the tools and resources our associates need in order to ensure they feel supported, and they feel comfortable reaching out for help if they are struggling with their mental health,” said Thompson Health Vice President of Associate Services/Wellness Jennifer DeVault. “Receiving this award is a validation of all this hard work and lets us know we are on the right track. In addition, having access to the MHA’s data helps us plan for the future as we strive to offer even more helpful programs and for that, we are grateful.”
