The Thompson Guild received an honorable mention recently at the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) Auxiliary of the Year Awards Luncheon.
With more than 200 members currently, the Guild was established by the F.F. Thompson Hospital Board of Directors in 1905. As a nonprofit fundraising organization, it supports Thompson Health patients, residents and Associates, acting as a liaison to the community. In addition to funding needed equipment and programs with events such as the annual Fashion Show & Luncheon and the Gigantic Garage Sale, the Guild provides scholarships to Thompson Associates who are furthering their education and to local young people pursuing healthcare careers. The group also joins HANYS in healthcare advocacy efforts at the state level.
The Thompson Guild’s HANYS representative, Ann Hanley of Naples, accepted the honorable mention award at an October 19 luncheon held at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Albany. The Guild was one of three auxiliaries receiving honorable mention, with the Auxiliary of the Year Award going to the Auxiliary of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
