CANANDAIGUA -- UR Medicine’s Thompson Health is included in the 2015 edition of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare list published by Becker’s Hospital Review.
This makes Thompson the only upstate New York organization on the list, and one of only three in New York State. The list – released March 16 – features both healthcare providers and other types of healthcare-specific companies, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, the Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Mayo Clinic, among others.
“Being named one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare is further confirmation of what we already know – Thompson is indeed a great place to work, with a unique corporate culture and an exceptional team of associates. The difference is that we are now nationally recognized as such, and will no doubt experience a tremendous boost in our efforts to recruit and retain top-notch individuals who are committed to high-quality, compassionate care,” said Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton Jr., FACHE.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, which has published a version of the list every year since 2011, the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare were selected based on workforce-centric awards received as well as benefits offerings, wellness initiatives, and efforts to improve professional development, diversity/inclusion, a sense of community among coworkers and work/life balance.
In honoring Thompson, Becker’s noted the hospital’s Magnet ® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as well as the hospital’s recent recognition as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization. Free parking for associates, free access to the hospital’s fitness center, the on-site Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and tuition reimbursement were also cited by Becker’s.
