CANANDAIGUA - UR Medicine Thompson Health is hosting a free Virtual Hernia Screening Clinic on Wednesday, May 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event will feature four general surgeons from Thompson Health Advanced Surgical Services, which is a part of F.F. Thompson Hospital. Dr. A. David Peter, Dr. Joseph Talarico, Dr. Theodor Kaufman and Dr. Andrew Powers will perform private, virtual screenings of participants.
To register for a screening – to be held via Zoom – call Advanced Surgical Services at (585) 978-8350. Space is limited, with a registration deadline of May 3.
Prior to the screenings, participants are encouraged to view a video presentation at ThompsonHealth.com/Hernia. The presentation features hernia causes and symptoms, as well as the benefits of minimally-invasive surgery using daVinci® robotic-assisted technology.
In 2017, F.F. Thompson Hospital became the first in the state to be named a Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery™ by the independent, nonprofit Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). The SRC also named the hospital a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery™, and both Peter and Talarico are designated by the SRC as Master Surgeons™ for hernia surgery and for robotic surgery as well.
