CANANDAIGUA – The Sports Medicine team within UR Medicine’s Thompson Health Rehabilitation Services Department invites young athletes, parents and coaches to “Commonly Seen Injuries in Young Athletes,” a presentation by Dr. Joshua Olsen, a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon.
The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, in the Thompson Health cafeteria, located in the hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, 350 Parrish St.
Sandwiches, chips and refreshments will be provided as Dr. Olsen provides insight into the risk factors contributing to common sports injuries, ways to mitigate the risks, and treatment options when such injuries occur. Topics to be covered include ACL/meniscal injuries, shoulder dislocations/separations, SLAP lesions and muscle strains, and the presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
The program is free, but requires registration. Call (585) 396-6111 to sign up.
Guests will be entered to win a free enrollment in Thompson’s new High Intensity Training (HIT) Sports Performance Program (a $165 value).
