As healthcare reform brings greater focus on collaboration, data analysis and access to specialists, a well-established local primary care physician is joining Thompson Health, effective Sept. 9.
Dr. William V. Craig is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a former emergency physician whose Reflections Health Care has been on Route 21 in Shortsville since 2001. He recently became a member of Thompson’s medical staff and has relocated to Thompson Health Shortsville Family Practice at 15 Canandaigua St. in Shortsville, joining Dr. Craig Sillick.
In a recent letter to patients, Craig said one benefit of joining Thompson is using an electronic medical record (EMR) format, allowing for better documentation and rapid connections to lab results, x-ray results, and all other information generated by his patients’ healthcare providers.
According to Thompson Health Executive VP and COO Kurt Koczent, Craig has approximately 5,000 patient visits per year. “We are very excited about this partnership. Having Dr. Craig join Thompson allows us to broaden our outreach to the communities we serve,” Koczent said.
Koczent noted that with the addition of Craig’s patients, Thompson will be better positioned for a regional approach to population health management because data gathered through EMR helps identify the greatest health needs of community members, influencing the programming Thompson offers in an effort to help patients manage chronic conditions.
