CANANDAIGUA – Victoria Shively of Canandaigua received The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses from UR Medicine Thompson Health nursing leadership on Jan. 15.
Shively is a member of the Nursing Floats Department at F.F. Thompson Hospital. She was nominated by Richard Gaudy of Pittsford as a result of his care at the hospital.
Gaudy, who was on hand for the surprise award presentation, said Shively had excellent attention to detail, was exceptionally adept at explaining what was going on, and displayed a great demeanor. “Timely, efficient, friendly and a total desire to satisfy patient needs. Outstanding!” he wrote.
Shively received a certificate, a pin, and a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. As a DAISY recipient, she is also eligible for scholarships, discounts on certifications, and medical mission grants from The DAISY Foundation.
