CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr. announced this week the appointment of Mary Schneiter as the new director of the F.F. Thompson Foundation, the fundraising arm of the nonprofit organization.
A Canandaigua resident, Schneiter has been with Thompson since June of 2018, when she became the director of its Corporate Communications Office. In addition to a background in marketing, she has several years of donor relations and development experience, both in the nonprofit sector and in academia. She will maintain her current role as Corporate Communications director once she assumes her new, added responsibilities with the Foundation.
Thompson’s current foundation director, Anita Pietropaolo, is set to retire Aug. 31. In a memo to staff, Stapleton thanked Pietropaolo for her many years of dedication, crediting her with being instrumental in Thompson’s long-term growth, with one of the most recent examples being its current capital campaign. The campaign, which is funding an expanded Intensive Care Unit and Pulmonary Medicine Clinic, to date has raised $11.25 million of the necessary $12 million.
Upon Pietropaolo’s retirement, Schneiter will assume her new role.
“This is a great opportunity to bring Communications and the Foundation together on a more official level,” said Stapleton. “Housed in the same building, they already work closely together on community outreach, messaging and cultivating good will for Thompson Health.”
