In support of the American Heart Association’s national “Go Red for Women” initiative, Thompson Health will host a “Go Red for Women Day” on Friday, Feb. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. at F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
The community is invited to hear Dr. Bryan Henry, medical director of cardiology, speak about “Ten Steps to a Healthy Heart.” In addition, two local women will share their “Stories of the Heart”: Kris Thorsness, an Olympic gold medalist and assistant Ontario County attorney, and Mary Ellen Quinlan, reporter for the Honeoye Herald.
From 1 to 2 p.m., Thompson Health’s cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation departments will host an open house on the first floor of the hospital. The open house will provide risk factor identification, free blood pressure screenings, body mass index (BMI) measurements and an action plan for preventing cardiovascular disease in women.
This event is free, open to the public, and all are welcome, whether or not you have had a cardiac event. Participants are encouraged to wear red. Call Thompson Health’s Cardiology department at (585) 396-6635 for more information.
