CANANDAIGUA – Thompson Health invites mothers and their daughters — ages 9 to 11 — to a fun and educational class called “Girls Are Special” on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at F.F. Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
“Girls Are Special” offers mothers and daughters a chance to learn together about the changes that take place during adolescence through activities and discussion. Thompson professionals will be on hand to present on a variety of topics, including fitness, nutrition, stress, safety, relationships and positive body image. Karen Yax, NP, of Honeoye Family Practice, will share information on physical and emotional changes. There will also be prize drawings and giveaways.
Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost — which includes lunch — is $35 for one mother and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. There is a $5 discount for members of Thompson Health’s Spirit of Women program, which co-sponsors Girls Are Special along with Thompson’s Wellness Department.
For more information and to register, please call the Wellness Department at (585) 396-6111.
