CANANDAIGUA – As an extension of its partnership with UR Medicine’s Highland Hospital - the region’s leading provider of bariatric (weight-loss) surgery – UR Medicine’s Thompson Health is offering a unique seminar for people who have had bariatric surgery, as well as those who are considering the surgery.
“Change Your Body – Change Your Lifestyle” will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Constellation Center for Health and Healing at Thompson Hospital, 350 Parrish St.
The program is designed to fit in with individual goals for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. Registrants will be assigned to a group, dependent on their personal status (pre- or post-surgery).
A Thompson athletic trainer will help participants develop an exercise plan by reviewing:
• How to properly measure heart rate and target heart rate
• The different components of a comprehensive home fitness program
• How to set realistic fitness goals and progress safely as goals are achieved
A Thompson Health registered dietitian will guide participants in:
• Identifying correct serving sizes of meal components in planning a week of menus consistent with the Highland Bariatric Center Lifestyle Meal Plan
• Having a better understanding of the importance of three or more Highland Bariatric Center Lifestyle habits
