CANANDAIGUA – The doors opened to patients today (Tuesday, April 25) at UR Medicine Thompson Health’s new Canandaigua location for outpatient rehabilitation services.
With 14,000 square feet, the new space at 699 South Main Street is adjacent to both UR Medicine Orthopaedic Services/UR Medicine Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Thompson’s Canandaigua Urgent Care. It includes comprehensive rehabilitation care with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training as well as lymphedema, hand, and aquatic therapies. A therapy pool is on site, as is a ceiling-mounted weight support and fall-protection system used to practice walking as well as to improve strength and balance.
These outpatient rehabilitation services – with more than 40 staff members – were previously located within F.F. Thompson Hospital on Parrish Street in Canandaigua. Speech Therapy, which is also part of Thompson’s Rehabilitation Services department, remains in its current location on the ground floor of the hospital.
Thompson Health Rehabilitation Services has additional outpatient locations in both Victor and Farmington. For information about the staff, their specialties, and the services they offer, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/Rehab.
