The National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) at Midlakes Intermediate School developed and carried out its own fundraiser to benefit Thompson Health, raising more than $100 for young patients in the Surgical Care Center.
The students decorated collection jars, delivered them to classrooms and publicized their fundraiser through morning announcements. After a month of fundraising efforts, the students presented a check to the F.F. Thompson Foundation to purchase items for children treated in the Surgical Care Center.
“We’re grateful for their donation and for what it will do for the boys and girls who come to our Surgical Care Center,” says Sue Smith, RN, of the Surgical Care Center. “If we can provide these children with a coloring book or stickers, it helps alleviate some of their anxiety and makes their experience here more special.”
Individuals interested in making a donation to Thompson Health are encouraged to contact the F.F. Thompson Foundation at foundation@thompsonhealth.com for a current list of needed items.
