CANANDAIGUA – Constellation Brands and the Sands family will provide a matching gift of up to $375,000 for the new Breast Imaging Center planned by UR Medicine’s Thompson Health.
The matching gift was announced by the F.F. Thompson Foundation, Inc., which is working to raise funds for the 7,000-square-foot center scheduled to open in 2015.
“For many years, both Constellation Brands and the Sands family have shown incredible generosity to Thompson Health and the community we serve,” said Michael F. Stapleton, Jr., Thompson Health President & CEO. He cited support of numerous capital campaigns and major funding provided for Thompson’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, which opened in 2011, as well as the Sands Cancer Center, which opened in 2000 in memory of Dr. Laurie Sands and is now part of the Wilmot Cancer Institute.
Located near F.F. Thompson Hospital on Parrish Street in Canandaigua, the new center will provide breast screening and state-of-the-art 3D Tomosynthesis diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasounds and biopsies, bone density screening and other essential breast health services. Same-day results, health and wellness programs and a comprehensive breast health navigation program will complement Thompson’s existing menu of healthcare services and patients will have convenient access to the Breast Health Patient Navigation Program team for the appropriate professional, financial, spiritual and emotional support essential for well-being. .
