CANANDAIGUA – Beginning Monday, May 4, both Thompson Health Gastroenterology and Thompson Health Pain Management will be located in the new Marilyn Sands Outpatient Clinic on the main campus of UR Medicine Thompson Health in Canandaigua.
A part of F.F. Thompson Hospital, the clinic is located at 395 West St. It is on the ground floor of Thompson’s new, 12-bed Sands-Constellation Intensive Care Unit, which opened in March.
Seeing pain management patients in the clinic are Dr. Anthony Eidelman and Michelle Dugan, nurse practitioner. Seeing gastroenterology patients is Dr. Suri Karthikeyan.
Telehealth options are available for both pain management and gastroenterology outpatients, depending on the need. Visit ThompsonHealth.com/telehealth for more information.
To reach Thompson Health Gastroenterology, call 585-602-0280. To reach Thompson Health Pain Management, call 585-602-PAIN (7246). More information about these services can be found, respectively, at ThompsonHealth.com/GI and ThompsonHealth.com/Pain.
The $11.9 million capital expansion involving the outpatient clinic and ICU was entirely community funded, eliminating the need to borrow.
The clinic is named in honor of longtime Canandaigua resident Marilyn Sands of the Sands Family Foundation, which provided a lead gift for the capital campaign. Her late husband, Constellation Brands founder Marvin Sands, was the chairman of Thompson’s board for many years and the family has had continued involvement with the health system for decades.
With nine exam and treatment rooms, the clinic will eventually also house pulmonary services for patients suffering from chronic lung conditions such as asthma, emphysema, congestive obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and other diseases. This service will be available once the hospital – currently resuming services as COVID-19 cases stabilize – receives the go-ahead from the New York State Department of Health.
