A young Canandaigua resident has recently donated his birthday gifts to patients at Thompson Health.
Ryan Hubler, age 12, began donating his birthday gifts to Thompson in 2008. Two years ago, he created a “Birthday Wish Club” that included supportive friends and family members. Each year, Ryan requests a Wish List from the F.F. Thompson Foundation, then distributes the list to his family and friends. All the gifts he receives are given to young patients to provide comfort during their hospital stay.
This year, Ryan and his 8-year-old sister, Maren, donated a 22-inch television and a DVD player to Thompson’s Birthing Center. Other gifts included clothing for newborns, crayons and markers, coloring books, crafts and model kits, children’s movies, sticker books, puzzles and card games.
“The items Ryan, Maren and the Birthday Wish Club have donated will help ease the anxiety of the children who come to Thompson for our care,” says Anita Pietropaolo, associate director of the F.F. Thompson Foundation. “Their kindness touches the hearts of so many children and we at Thompson Health are so grateful for their generosity.”
Individuals interested in making a donation to Thompson Health are encouraged to contact the F.F. Thompson Foundation at foundation@thompsonhealth.com for a current Wish List.
