CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health recently named Patricia A. James the director of Perioperative Services for F.F. Thompson Hospital.
A Naples resident with nearly 40 years of experience in nursing, James first joined Thompson in January 2021 as the nurse educator for the Operating Room (O.R.), launching its new Registered Nurse Residency Program. Just prior to arriving at Thompson, she had worked at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester as nurse manager of its O.R. for eight years. This followed five years as a Strong O.R. nurse leader.
James, who completed her master’s in Healthcare Organization Management and Leadership at the University of Rochester School of Nursing in 2020, is a member of both the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses and New York Organization of Nurse Executives and Leaders.
In her new role at Thompson, she is overseeing the O.R., the Ambulatory Procedures Unit, Sterile Reprocessing Services, the Surgical Care Center, the Pre-Admission Testing Center and the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
