NAPLES –The 11th annual Margery Coughlin Pawluk Golf Tournament recently raised $9,000 for the Margery Coughlin Pawluk Cancer Patient Needs Fund.
This fund helps patients of the Sands Center Center – on the Thompson Health campus in Canandaigua – with the unexpected costs of a long illness, providing for necessities including groceries, gas cards, utility bills, specialized medical needs and even some home renovations.
Since its inception, the Pawluk tournament has raised a total of more than $95,000 for the fund, created in memory of a Naples resident who was a nurse at the VA Medical Center in Canandaigua as well as a mother of three.
This year’s tournament was held June 4 at Reservoir Creek Golf Course in Naples. Tournament winners were as follows:
- 1st Place – Mike Sheedy, Chris Donnellan, Chris Sherman and Chris Annesi
- 2nd Place – Wayne Chanler, Mike Flannigan, Frank Gendreau and Gary
Pickering - 3rd Place – Jason March, Edward Kinney, Mike Clune and Josh Belisle
- 1st Place Mixed – Bo Lysell, Patricia Lysell, Jack Fredericks and Sharon Fredericks
UR Medicine’s Wilmot Cancer Institute, of which the Sands Cancer Centeris a part, served as a dinner sponsor along with the following: - Constellation Brands

The committee is also grateful to the volunteers who assisted in making the tournament a success, as well as to the more than 75 local merchants and area residents who supported the event through hole/tee and cart sponsorships, or by donations of items or gift certificates to the silent auction.
