CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine’s Thompson Health invites mothers and daughters — ages 9 to 11 — to a fun and educational class called “Girls Are Special” on Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thompson Hospital’s Constellation Center for Health and Healing, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
“Girls Are Special” offers mothers and daughters a chance to learn together, through activities and discussion, about the changes that take place during adolescence. Thompson’s wellness experts and Nurse Practitioner Karen Yax of Thompson’s Honeoye Family Practice will discuss physical and emotional changes, diet and fitness, stress, safety, relationships and positive body image.
Space is limited and reservations are required. The cost — which includes lunch, snacks and materials — is $35 for one mother and daughter and $5 for each additional daughter. Thompson Health Spirit of Women members save $5 on Girls Are Special. To become a Spirit of Women member, for free, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/Spirit.
Girls Are Special will be held in the ground floor conference rooms of the Constellation Center for Health and Healing, located on the north side of the main Thompson Health campus. The Constellation Center is accessible via The Thompson Way off West Street in Canandaigua.
