CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Hospital will host a Hernia Screening Clinic from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, in the cafeteria on the ground floor of the hospital, 350 Parrish St.
Presented by Dr. A. David Peter and Dr. Joseph Talarico of the hospital’s Advanced Surgical Services, the clinic is free but RSVPs are required and space is limited. In addition to performing screenings, the surgeons will give a presentation on:
- What causes a hernia
- Hernia symptoms
- The benefits of minimally-invasive surgery using robotic-assisted technology
Those attending the clinic can also participate in a hands-on demonstration of the daVinci surgical robot.
In addition, John Ahern and Cameron Johnson – physical therapists from Thompson Health Rehabilitation Services – will discuss what a sports hernia really is and what physical therapy can do in addressing a hernia.
Refreshments will be provided during the event, which is sponsored by the Thompson Health Wellness Hub program.
