The Rehabilitation Services Department at Thompson Health will offer free screenings for oral, head and neck cancers on Thursday, April 26, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Constellation Center for Health and Healing, located on the north side of the main Thompson Health campus at 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua.
Information on quitting smoking will be available for those who attend. Tobacco users are encouraged to schedule a screening, as well as those who are experiencing any of the following symptoms associated with oral, head and/or neck cancers:
- A sore in your mouth that does not heal or increases in size
- Difficulty chewing, swallowing or moving your tongue or jaw
- Numbness of your tongue or elsewhere in your mouth
- Lumps or white or red areas on your palate or tonsil
- Changes in your voice
- A red, white or brown spot on skin that grows, changes or bleeds
- A lump in your neck
- Persistent pain in your mouth
- Soreness in your throat or feeling that something is caught in your throat
- A scaly area or change in texture of skin that does not go away
