CANANDAIGUA – Based on a sharp increase in influenza in the region, including several schools in the area, UR Medicine’s Thompson Health has instituted visitor restrictions at both F.F. Thompson Hospital and the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center.
Until the prevalence of influenza has abated, Thompson cannot permit visitors under the age of 14 at either facility. In addition, each patient or resident is limited to two visitors at a time, and anyone displaying symptoms of possible illness is asked to refrain from visiting until they are healthy.
Signage regarding this temporary policy is posted at the entrances to both the hospital and the continuing care center, and staff members have been made aware.
Similar precautions are in place at some of the other healthcare facilities in the region.
