CANANDAIGUA – UR Medicine Thompson Health recently named five of its associates as first-quarter 2025 Service Excellence Award winners.
Recipients of the quarterly award are chosen by the health system’s Service Excellence Team (SET), which reviews compliments from patients, families, and coworkers submitted by system leaders.
Chosen for the honor by the SET were:
- Certified Nursing Assistant Melissa Thran of the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, for ensuring all 40 residents on her unit receive Christmas stockings filled with goodies. “Melissa looks at the residents as an extension of her family and treats them all as if they were her loved ones,” said a colleague. Thran is a Clifton Springs resident.
- Patient Care Technician Arlana Rodriguez of hospital floor 3 West, for comforting a patient having a challenging night. “Arlana’s bubbly personality and unwavering kindness make a meaningful difference for our patients daily,” a coworker wrote. Rodriguez is a Rochester resident.
- Patient Care Technician Leah Galens of hospital floor 3 West, for helping ensure a patient received exceptional care. “We appreciated the energy and willingness to make sure he was well taken care of,” a family member of the man wrote. Galens lives in Dundee.
- Patient Care Technician Kali Ham from Interventional Radiology, who was asked to help in the hospital’s Birthing Center and noticed a car seat’s expiration sticker. Said a colleague, “This could have been a huge safety risk and concern if the patient used it. She saved the day and kept baby safe!” Ham is a Canandaigua resident.
- M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center Recreational Therapy Manager Tawny Kelledy, for facilitating the return of the holiday meals and coordinating a tree lighting ceremony. “Tawny dedicates all her energy, compassion, and genuine care to her residents, going above and beyond just doing her job,” a coworker wrote. Kelledy lives in Canandaigua.
Each recipient of the Service Excellence Award receives points to be used on Thompson’s online shopping site and is featured in CEO presentations as well as on Thompson’s intranet site and in its internal newsletter.
