CANANDAIGUA – Coaches, parents and athletes are invited to a free event being held Saturday, Aug. 13, at Finger Lakes Community College, called “Concussions: What’s the Impact?”
Speakers include Clinical Coordinator of Outpatient Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy John Ahern and Athletic Trainer Jeremy Herniman of the Sports Medicine Team at UR Medicine’s Thompson Health, as well
as Dr. Angel Boev, a neurosurgeon who oversees Thompson’s Certified ImPACT® Credentialed (CIC) Testing Site.
Registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the presentation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon at FLCC’s Stage 14, located near the main entrance, on the second floor.
The presentation will cover:
- Thompson Health Certified ImPACT® Credentialed Testing Site capabilities
- Sideline concussion evaluations and New York State return-to-play
protocol - Medical diagnosis, management and treatment of concussions
The event will include refreshments and raffles, as well as a chance to win free enrollment in Thompson’s new High-Intensity Training (HIT) Sports Performance Program (a $165 value).
