Doc’s Lakeside Seafood and Steakhouse recently raised $2,103.50 for Thompson Health’s Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program, which provides women in our community free access to early detection services.
During the month of October, Doc’s featured an omega-3 seafood trio in support of breast cancer awareness. Half of these proceeds went directly to the Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program. In addition, Doc’s held a formal fundraiser at the end of the month.
The funds raised for the Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Program will support the services that Thompson’s navigation team provides at no cost to the patient. These services include
- Clinical breast exams
- Resources and support systems
- Facilitated interaction and communication with healthcare staff and providers
- Help with appointment scheduling and paperwork
- Assistance with insurance questions and options
- Educational materials and instruction on self breast examination
- Identification of appropriate social services for patients and families
- Tracking of interventions and outcomes
The team includes a mammography nurse, a social worker, a breast health nurse specialist, a pre-admission nurse, a diagnostic imaging nurse and a certified lymphedema therapist. For more information, call (585) 396-6061.
